Birth Center Postpartum Care
The miracle of birth is a normal, natural process and every woman has the right to choose where and how they give birth. Our dedication is to assist you with your transition into becoming a new mother. Throughout the birth process, you will receive labor support as needed, maternal and fetal assessments will be completed, and you will have the freedom to move, eat and drink as you desire. Water birth is available and supported while you enjoy the peace around you.
Initial skin-to-skin bonding with your newborn immediately after birth and breastfeeding support without interruption is offered. Constant evaluation and observation of mother and baby during the postpartum period for several hours is provided all the while allowing for family bonding. Remaining with the Birth Center for a few hours before preparing for home.
Initial postpartum care at the birth center will be provided to assess and evaluate baby, complete birth certificate for official filing, discuss at home care for first 24-48 hours and more…
Postpartum pediatrition visit and follow up with midwife within 24-72 hours. Followed by a two week and a six week postpartum visit for mom at the Birth Center.
Birth Center Postpartum visits
Postpartum visits for mother are scheduled between 24-72 hours after the birth, a two week visit, and a 6-week visit. During this time we are always available for any questions or concerns you may have. It is encouraged you choose and arrange to meet your pediatric care provider for your baby by 34 weeks of pregnancy to follow post birth. HSPBC will provide resources for you to learn more about formulating your care plan.
Remember to reserve Placenta Encapsulation if you would like this service. Speak to our staff about arrangements by 34 weeks of pregnancy.
Postpartum Home Doula Care Service
Postpartum home doula care is available upon request and reservation. One to two weeks notice is preferable to insure your reserved time period is available. Please speak with office to reserve.

As a certified postpartum doula, Debra’s goal is to help new parents do just that be new “great” parents. Helping with everything from baby care, breastfeeding support, helping with nutritional planning and getting more sleep!
Time to go back to work?
Ask about our Surveillance/Nanny Cam Expert who will install a system that will enable you to check on your child from work and even your phone! Milk storage and childcare is very important for new parents. With Breast feeding education and guidance, you can rest easier.
What is the typical salary range for a Newborn Specialist / Postpartum Doula?
The average salary range for a Newborn Specialist/Postpartum Doula Care is $20 to $40 per hour. No extra charge for multiples. Please ask for a phone consult.
What Fees can I expect to pay?
There is a one-time $200 reservation fee which will retain your approximate dates and is non refundable. In addition to this fee, logistic and length of care will determine ultimate hourly rate and any additional fees needed to retain service.

Postpartum Care at Home
As your postpartum doula, your doula/nurse can arrange to spend some daytime hours and/or spend the night at your home, helping with care such as changing, feeding, burping, swaddling, and waking mom to breastfeed. Both parents are able to sleep more soundly, without worrying about all the typical noises baby makes. Don’t forget some special care for Mom & Dad, which can include foot massages, tea and your cuddle time alone…Overnight care is based on a (6-8) hour scale. Overnight care can help profoundly following a surgical birth.
6 am to 6 pm – daytime hour rate
6 pm to 6 am – nighttime hour rate
Postpartum Doula Fees
Based on $15 – $20. for daytime hours and $25 – $40. for night hours. This is determined by logistics, length of time needed, including travel time and gas coverage. Parking may be a separate fee.
