The miracle of birth is a normal, natural process and every woman has the right to choose where and how they give birth. Our dedication is to assist you with your transition into becoming a new mother. Throughout the birth process you will receive labor support as needed, maternal and fetal assessments will be completed, you will have freedom to move, eat and drink as you desire. Water birth is available and supported hydrobirth can be accommodated while you enjoy the peace around you. Initial skin to skin bonding with your newborn immediately after birth and breastfeeding support without interruption is offered. Constant evaluation and observation of mother and baby during the postpartum period for several hours is provided all the while allowing for family bonding.
Postpartum visits are scheduled between 24-48 hours after the birth, an optional 5-7 day visit, and 2 week and 6 week visits. During this time we are always available for any questions or concerns you may have. Certified Nurse Midwives and Licensed Midwives can care for newborns up to 28 days of age, with this being said, it is encouraged you arrange a primary care provider for your baby as soon as possible. Please contact HSPBC for our resources and to learn more about formulating your care plan. Placenta Encapsulation is also available with a reservation. Please speak to our staff about arrangements.
Postpartum home doula care is available upon request and reservation. One to two weeks notice is preferable to insure your time period necessary. Please speak with Debra to reserve.

What is the typical salary range for a Newborn Specialist/Postpartum Doula?
The average salary range for a Newborn Specialist/Postpartum Doula Care is $15 to $35 per hour if under 24 hours. No extra charge for multiples.
What Fees can I expect to pay?
There is a one-time $100 registration fee that is processed upon receipt of your Agreement. In addition to the registration fee, there is a first payment of 25% of the anticipated total gross compensation for care which is due when your Newborn Specialist/Postpartum Doula is confirmed for the assignment. Fees are paid based on the anticipated total gross compensation for the entire period of employment. Supplemental fees will be due if the assignment is extended.

Postpartum Care Preparation & Packages
As your postpartum doula, Debra will spend (2) hours with you at your home discussing baby care (feeding., diapering, cord care, massage, feeding, and other basics) as well as mother care (massage, dietary needs, as well as physical and emotional changes to expect). You can take advantage of this service before the baby comes or utilize this service once your baby is born. You will receive hands-on instruction in infant and mother care. This includes 2-hours of instructional care and is $50.00.
Postpartum Care at Home
As your postpartum doula, Debra will help during these 3 days which will include the services described above, as well as run some errands, prepare a meal or two, perform light house work and entertain siblings, if necessary. Mom will get her well-deserved rest without worrying about all of the usual “daily life” duties. Taking this time to heal and enjoy your new baby. This is a great gift for a mother-to-be and can also be extremely helpful if your partner has to return to work shortly following the birth!This service includes 12 hours of care and is charged by day or night fee rates. Both day and night hours may be combined according to the family’s necessity.
As your postpartum doula, Debra can arrange to spend the night at your home, helping with night time care such as changing, burping, swaddling, waking mom to breast feed, so mom is able to sleep more soundly, without worrying about all the typical noises baby makes. Don’t forget some special care for Mom & Dad, which includes foot massages, tea and your cuddle time alone…Overnight care is based on a (6-8) hour scale. Overnight care can help profoundly following a surgical birth.
6 am to 6 pm – day time hour rate
6 pm to 6 am – night time hour rate
Postpartum Doula Fees
Sliding scale if necessary. Minimum (4) hours. Based on $15 – $20. for daytime hours and $25 – $35. for night hours. This is determined by logistics, length of time needed, includes travel time and gas coverage.
There is a preliminary visit at your home to discuss care, hours, cost and services provided, this is $150.00. The postpartum care contract is reviewed and if accepted by both, as stated above 25% of total estimated gross amount is necessary to secure datesfor service. There is a (4) hour minimum of total daytime hours, no minimum for nights. Any additional hours will be subject to availability and mutual agreement. Please give 24-hour notice if you would like to have your postpartum doula meet you at your home, following release from the hospital. Remember, No extra charge for TWINS!!!
Debra can provide INSURANCE CLAIM FORMS FOR REIMBURSEMENT NOW WITH BETTER QUALIFICATIONS TO HAVE YOUR POSTPARTUM DOULA CARE SERVICE COVERED.
